When my music teacher gave me the song Close every door (five years ago!), I had no idea where it came from. I was to sing it for my music exam. And I loved it, even though the large intervals and high notes sometimes made it difficult for me. I lost that song shortly after and did not know the title or author. I looked for it, but it's difficult to search when you only remember the melody and some lines. Now, after chatting with some helpful people and a couple of homepages later, I found your homepage. With myself included there are four girls that want the part of the narrator more than anything, and the four of us all deserve it. All gossip aside, your website is great! I hadn't heard the music from Joeseph before and the lyrics page was quite helpful. My only problem was that I could not hear the melody very well and it was hard for me to sing along since it was my first time hearing it. Maybe you could add the option of listening to a cast recording of the song and just the musical version, that way a person could learn the music on their own without having to see the sheet music. I was actually looking to see is a production of this show was playing anywhere. The first time I saw the show was this past Mother's Day - it was being performed by a local school of performing arts. It was fantastic! I quickly went out and bought the CD (Canadian cast) and found it to also be fantastic. I also bought the video and like you was disappointed. My three year old son also enjoys the CD and video - he can belt out "Joseph's Coat" and "Pharaoh's Dream Explained" like a pro. He also insisted that I make him a "Joseph Coat" to wear - which I did. In the town that I am from, I am very active in the local theatre and have been in some of their productions. While I have never directed before, I would very much like to direct Joseph for our local theatre. I am currently in the research phase and would appreciate any help that you may be able to give me. I have some idea's in my head, based on the setting of our theatre, but am having some problems with some aspects of how I would do certain segments of the show. Also, I think it would be hard for me to get any type of orchestra or band together for the music part of the show, and as we know, with out music, there can be no musical. Is there a soundtrack minus vocals out there anywhere....this is just one of the few bumps I have faced in the thought process and there are more, but for now, I would like to hear from you if at all possible with some input. I want to be totally prepared when I have to face the board of directors with my presentation. They previously encouraged me to direct, but I wanted to do "Anastasia" and they felt I should do the "Miracle Worker". I want to do what feels right to me and would rather not direct at all than be bullied into something I have no desire to direct, which is what I did in this case....Anyways, enough for now, hope to hear from you.
